"Together smoke-free" informs Swiss population about the dangers of tobacco consumption and ways to stop smoking
"Together smoke-free" primarily appeals to people with limited finances, little time, or who have language barriers.
Since 2022,"Together smoke-free" has held 160 workshops in 10 languages across Switzerland. Now, 180 more are set to follow. The workshops take place online or on site.
"Together smoke-free" works closely with existing organisations to achieve this: with associations and informal groups, as well as churches, mosques, businesses, etc.

One in four people in Switzerland smoke. That is an above-average number of people. Men smoke more than women. Unemployed people also tend more to smoke. Smoking is harmful to smokers’ health. Smoking causes many diseases, including stroke, lung cancer, impotence, heart attack and others. Smoking also harms the health of people in the vicinity of a smoker (passive smoking). This affects, for example, children.
The "Gemeinsam rauchfrei" (“Together smoke-free“) project is run by the Swiss Institute for Public Health and Addiction (ISGF). The project is aimed at people with limited finances, little time or who have language barriers. We organise two workshops for smokers. In the workshops, smokers receive information about the dangers of smoking, how to protect themselves from tobacco smoke and how to quit. The workshops are free of charge for participants. The two workshops, “Smoking is harmful!“ and “How can I quit smoking?“, are led by medical professionals and smoking cessation coaches. The workshops are held in the participants’ language. After the workshops, participants are encouraged to try to quit smoking.
“Together smoke-free“ cooperates with associations, organizations, religious institutions and groups. Together we organize and conduct the workshops. At the same time, the project supports the associations in developing measures for protection against passive smoking.
We regularly post important information regarding smoking cessation on our WhatsApp channel. There you will find tips and tricks for quitting smoking. Health topics are discussed, as well as topics that can help you in quitting smoking.
